Opening Scenarios Detail
Sequitur's opening scenarios mirror those of the State of Louisiana and of Istrouma Baptist Church. See the slide outline of opening scenarios. Here is Istrouma's info for operations during this time. Go here for the State of Louisiana's general info on the virus. Here is a detailed explanation of what "Phase 1" means for Louisiana. Reading this gives us great confidence that we will have a hard open in August if/when Phase 2 is announced. Lastly, here is a FAQ from the CDC for schools regarding health and hygiene practices that make for safe environments. Sequitur is monitoring these sources regarding its opening scenario decisions.

Questions and Answers
If we are opening in a Phase 1 scenario and we are doing Sequitur At Home, will tuition be reduced to reflect this?
  • We do not plan to adjust tuition between the opening options, for a few reasons: it’s highly likely that we will be in physical school at the start or at some point in the year; teacher contracts and school and facilities budgets are already finalized; changing tuition would require renegotiation of all student registrations and teacher contracts; and online classical schools charge tuition per class that is relative to our in-class tuition (checkout Logos Online, Veritas Press, Kepler, or Memoria online).

Will students be required to wear masks in any opening scenario (phase 1,2, or 3)?
  • No! Trying to teach, talk, answer questions, drink and eat, and sing in masks - as well as overseeing their proper wear and fitting - would severely degrade the teaching or learning experience, and would likely not be an effective health practice. Further, scientific data shows that only two masks actually have a mere partial (not 100%) chance of blocking the virus (here and here). These special masks have been in high demand and short supply; so it's unlikely the entire Louisiana or national school system would be able to require effective masks for all students. If the government requires masks to be worn in public gatherings/schools, we simply will not have physical school.

How long will Mr. Wolfe be in Baton Rouge? What are his plans after the PHD program ends?
  • He will likely be in Baton Rouge for a few more years.

The other question we had was to get more details on possible flu season break scenarios. Will those be also be Sequitur At Home?
  • If the state government recommends a flu season break, then Sequitur will consider it and notify parents.

Where do you buy the Promptus Hymnal's?
  • They should be linked on the Books And Materials List.
